Rescuing a photo
I always try to shoot in a way that gives me the least amount of work in post. One of the reasons is I get bored of sitting at the computer very quickly! Another is that less editing time means I deliver photos faster.
Sometimes it isn’t always possible to avoid. Here is an example from a recent shoot, rescuing an image with editing that otherwise would have missed the collection.
1. Started with the RAW image, which was a little overexposed and full of distractions in the background as well as a tight crop.
2. As with all the images, I tweaked the exposure and applied my preset to give it my look and style.
3. Now for a visit to Photoshop to remove the people and some distractions. I also added some extra space to improve the framing.
I think there is a fine line, in photography, between the right amount of editing to enhance the context of an image and creating a lifeless, superficial image. In this image example, my aim was not to create perfection but to simply support the subjects.
